This is the end...

Well…and this is the end!!!!!!...finally came the day of my last post, and I must confess that it feels kind of sad. I think that I really like and enjoy the idea of write about my opinion about some topics and my reviews in this blog. At the beginning it felt strange… as having a microphone to say what I think about certain things and even if just a few people read it it's satisfactory.  Moreover I think that this idea it was really useful not only for improve my writing, also for the pronunciation in the videos and that indeed was, in my opinion, the most useful part of the blog, because I don't have major problems when I  write in English… but at the time to speaking it's very hard for me!!!!!!!!!!...Also I would like to Thank Miss Rosa, because she really help me at the time of write each blog….she is very patient!!!!!!!!!!!!. I liked very much the topics that you proposed Miss, because there were really interesting ideas that I was able to develop. In the future I'm going to try to continue speaking English to improve my skills I think it's a good idea make some more videos, but just for me so…. to listen how I'm speaking and correct my pronunciation. I also would like to travel to other countries where they speak english so I can give a great use of all I learned.
Currently I don't have many opportunities to speak english, but I have a friend that lives in USA; he is a writer and his name is Luis Correa. Sometimes when we talk we do it in english because he is kind of forgetting the Spanish (he is living there since a long time ago) and I can practice my pronunciation….I also talk with my mother's boyfriend who is an american citizen that doesn't known anything of spanish !!!!!!!!!. I also like to watch movies and series online and sometimes they came without subtitles so I have to make the effort to understand what they are saying; I thing that that's a good exercise to measure how fast I can think in english ,  tell when the subtitles are wrong and catch some jokes that doesn’t have translation.
Mmmmmmmm…summarizing, I’m going to miss the blog and talk to you…I hope that you like all that I wrote (maybe I was boring!!!!!!!!)….and that’s all….Farewell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My future job

Well...as I told you before, for five years I studied agriculture in the University of Chile. When I was in my fourth year, I started to feel that the agriculture it wasn't the right choice for me. I wanted a major with a social approach, something that the agriculture didn't give me in the way that I wanted to. ...that's why I decided to take this major. I love to work with little children, so is perfect for me because allows me to teach in preschool and in elementary school.
When I think in the kind of job that I would like in the future, my first option is a school in the public system...I don't want to give a speech that sounds like I'm a kind of super hero....I'm just going to tell that I think that is a  good option in this kind of profession....although I must say that sometimes I work in a Montessori pre- school...and I love it!!!!!!!!, I would love to be a Montessori teacher, but the problem is that  in general, the Montessori schools are in the private system of education, so I'm not sure if a would work in Montessori.
If you asked me about aspects to choose a job....I'm not sure...I could say to you a lot of things, but I don't know what I'm going to be thinking and wanting in three, ten or twenty years....and now, I have a mix of things in my head !!!!!

If in a job interview asked me about my strengths and weaknesses, I would say that I'm a proactive person, that willingly agree to make the job, with good ideas; that in the case of my strenghths....about my weaknesses, I think that I have a lot, but I'm not going to tell you which are!!!!!!.....

...money....

Money…. It’s a really complex topic. If you ask me, I think that there are things more important in life, but the truth is that in the last hundred years, the political systems of the powerful countries have made the life impossible without money. With the programmed obsolescence of the products that you consume, it is imperative to buy constantly replacement of the elements that are made to fail. So the only solution in these days is to accept the system and try to make more money so you can increase your life quality. Apart from that, in some countries - like ours (Chile) - you have to pay for health and education which are, in my opinion, rights that should be free of charge…so to summarize, if you don’t have money, you can’t go to school or University, go to the doctor, buy food or clothes, date people or something as simple as hang out with friends.
In my case, my parents help with money (so I can study), I also work in a kindergarten when they need help and I also have a student  grant in which give me an allowance every month. I’m very careful managing my budget because I have to spend my money in food (for my apartment or at University), bus or metro, photocopy, among other things… So I can’t pretend that I’m a big spender!!!!!. I must be really careful with my money.
Mmmmmm….if I were a millionaire I would invest my money in travel around the world…I don’t know if it’s a smart investment, but is the best for me!!!!!
Finally, If I needed money I don’t know what I could pawn….I don’t have valuable stuffs (in terms of money)…I suppose the only thing that I could pawn is my computer….and maybe some silver jewelry…..but If a really needed money, I don’t think that pawn those things would help me much.

The truth is that I'don't remember when or where I first learned about environmentally friendly practices, but I suppose that I was always taught in my house about throwing my garbage or packaging in a garbage can, and that I always have to do things to preserve and no to pollute the environment  I also learned  a lot about things in relation to this topic when I was studying Agriculture in the Campus Antumapu; there they taugtht  me things like what the greenhouse effect is , solar and wind energy, deforestation, among other things....ahhhh. and I also learned how to make compost!!!!!
Although I find important to do things to preserve and not to pollute the environment, I don't recycle...maybe  it is because it is too hard to do it if there aren't people around you that do it too. If you live in a neighbourhood that is organized for recycling, is much easier....
At least I like to walk when I have the time (I'm from Valparaíso and my family don't have a car) but I would like to have a bike....it is a really good way to go to any place you want to, and you do exercise  at the same time  that you do a good action for the environment.
I have never joined or supported any environmental  organization...I don't know why; maybe it is because I  have never heard about one that persuaded me...and I don't think you necessary have to be a part of an organization to make a change.
About my carbon footprint??????...I don't know if I ever did or do something to reduce it...well, at least I don't throw garbage where I don't suppose to, or use things that come in aerosol cans (because they have  chemical  compounds that are bad to the Ozone layer), or leave the water running when I'm using tap water... the other day I saw in the supermarket a container recycling store bags, and I have a lot in my house; so I'm going to start recycling plastic bags!!!!!
I think that here in Santiago, you can find many ways to recycle, but the people (including me), don't give themselves the time to do it...the air and noise pollution are awful in this city...that is why I always miss Valparaiso (it isn't the cleanest city in the world but at least it is nicer than Santiago)

...a reflection upon election day

We are near  a district election. I must confess that, when I was younger, I used to believe in Democracy. My grandfather is a politician (since he was very young) so he suffered a lot during the military dictatorship (because he belonged to the socialist party). That is why I always thought that it was my duty to register myself to vote; that it was an important responsibility as a Chilean citizen, Who was born in the 86' (when it still was  dictatorship time) and a way to recognize all the   effort that my grandpa made for the people that he represented. So, obviously, when I just turned 18, I registered myself to vote.
The truth is that now I'm not so sure about all the things that  I used to think. Now, I don't believe that my vote can make a difference; I don't trust in any politician or political party....I'm starting to believe that all the things that  were supposed to happen with the democracy were a lie...so, I hate all the electoral campaigns...there are a waste of money and resources; a way to elect a person who doesn't have a real interest in making any difference in the system, and if he/she wants to, he/she can't make it. Besides, during the campaigns there are a lot of dishonest things that the candidates would make to win the elections...
Moreover, in my opinion, there isn't a real good politician, someone who makes a real representation of the people's needs and  works to make a change.
...at times, when I look all the things and effort that my grandpa made, sometimes I think that maybe I could have a career in politics and make a difference (like him)...but no...politics is too corrupted....

The Guardian article: GCSE controversy

Well, first I'm going to explain what GCSE is. This acronym , is the abbreviation of the The General Certificate of Secondary Education, an academic qualification that the kids in UK can get after finishing secondary school; it's  like our PSU.
The news that I chose is about a big commotion related with this exams, specifically with a boundaries raise in the English test, between January and June. The problem with this, is that a lot of kids  who took it, during the last examination, obtained really low results (lower than expected). That is why now, a great amount of students, 45.000 according  to The guardian, opt to resit during the next month (November). Headteachers of all the Brittish territory claim that the students didn't have any fault in this problem, because they say that all the confusion was cause for the raised of boundaries, so they are asking for a re-graded of all the exams. Besides that fact, there is an alliance of schools, students, professional bodies, etc that were claiming and submiting for a judicial review of the case, which achieve the re-graded of the English exams.
To summarize, there is a big polemic about the English GCSE because the number of students re-taking the test is higher than the expected, trouble cause for a raised of boundaries of the exams...that is why now 45.000 kids are going to resit since november.
